David W. Miles

Chairman of the Board

David W Miles

A financial adviser, entrepreneur and investor for more than thirty years, David Miles is Chairman and a principal owner of Miles Capital, Inc., co-founder and Managing Principal of the venture capital firm ManchesterStory Group, LLC, and founder and Manager of The Miles Group, LLC. He is also president and director of the Miles Funds, Inc., and a director of Northwest Financial Corporation.

Mr. Miles received his B.A. from Drake University, J.D. from Harvard Law School, and a Master of Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.

In addition to his professional activities, Mr. Miles has extensive board experience and has long been an advocate for education. He presently serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the Association of Governing boards of Universities and Colleges ("AGB"), and has been a member of the Board of Trustees of Drake University for thirteen years, including three as Chair. Mr. Miles was a member of the Iowa Board of Regents from 2007 through 2013, and served as the president from December 2007 to July 2011. He is also past chair of the Arthritis Foundation, Iowa Chapter, and the Leadership Iowa Board of Governors.

Gregory D. Boal, CFA

Gregory D Boal

Gregory Boal is the CEO and CIO, and leads the management team. He is a proven business leader with more than 25 years of success in the asset management industry spanning institutional, mutual fund, and insurance areas. Prior to joining Miles Capital, Greg was most recently the Chief Executive Officer of Aviva Investors North America, a $50 billion AUM division of Aviva Investors Global. Greg has also served as Group Head & Managing Director — Global Quantitative Fixed Income, for Deutsche Bank Asset Management, Director of Fixed Income & Managing Director — Mutual Funds/Institutional Group and Director of Fixed Income for ABN AMRO Asset Management in Chicago. Gregory received a Masters in Finance and B.S. in Broadcasting from the University of Wyoming. He has earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the Investment Analyst Society of Iowa.

Throughout his career, Greg has maintained numerous professional affiliations and served on multiple boards. Board directorships have included the Salisbury House, Calvert Variable Series and Inflective Asset Management, LLC.

Amy Mitchell

Director, Public Fund Services and Administration

Amy Mitchell

Amy Mitchell is a member of the Miles Capital Management Committee.  She is responsible for the oversight of the local government investment pool operations and administration, and the delivery of investment management, marketing, administration and compliance services to our participants.  Amy has been with the firm since 1990, and during this time has been involved in every aspect of our fund services.  She earned her B.A. in Business Administration from Graceland University and has earned her FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses. Amy is very involved with multiple community organizations.

Gwen Gosselink

Gwen Gosselink

Gwen Gosselink is Chief Compliance and Risk Officer for Miles Capital. As CCO, Gwen is responsible for oversight of all firm regulatory and client account compliance. She also sits on the Miles Capital Risk Committee. Gwen has more than 20 years of experience in the financial industry including broker dealer, investment advisory, and trust. Before joining Miles Capital, Gwen served as President and Chief Compliance Officer of Aviva Securities and Director of Compliance at Aviva Investors North America, Inc. where she was responsible for the compliance infrastructure of the organization. Prior to Aviva Investors, Gwen worked in corporate legal departments for several years and also held various investment consulting positions with financial institutions. Gwen earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business from William Penn University and an Associate of Science degree for Legal Assistant from Des Moines Area Community College.

Doug Earney, CFA

Director, Fixed Income

Doug Earney

Doug Earney, CFA, is a member of the Miles Capital Management Committee as well as the Asset Allocation Committee. He is responsible for asset allocation, risk management and multi-sector portfolio strategies for Miles Capital's institutional clients. In conjunction with Allen Goody, he is responsible for oversight of the investment teams.  Prior to joining Miles Capital, Doug was a portfolio manager with Principal Global Investors, managing fixed income portfolios for insurance, pension, endowment and other institutional clients.  Doug earned his B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University and his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He earned his CFA designation and is a member of the CFA Society of Iowa.

Anita Tracy

Senior Fund Services Administrator

Anita Tracy

Anita Tracy is responsible for the daily servicing and relationship support of the LGIP participants, including account inquiries, transaction execution, reporting, and daily interaction with various custodians.  She also acts as system administrator for Miles Public Fund Services’ proprietary participant recordkeeping system.  Anita has 20 years of experience working with public entity clients, 13 of which are with Miles Capital.  Prior to joining the firm, Anita was with Wells Fargo N.A. as a Relationship Manager where she worked with many of the same participants and boards as she does today.  She earned her B.A. in Business Administration from Grand View University.

Daniel Zomermaand

Public Fund Services, Market Consultant

Dan Zomermaand
Dan is responsible for leading the sales and client service efforts for local government entities. He is dedicated to strengthening client communications and relationships, developing sales and marketing plans, and determining how best to meet the needs of government entity participants. Dan has devoted the majority of his career to serving the financial needs of public entities. Prior to joining Miles Capital, Dan was most recently VP, Public Finance with Northland Securities, where he served as financial advisor to a number of Iowa public entities. Previously, he also led creation of financing plans for municipalities during his tenure with Ruan Securities as AVP, Public Finance. Dan earned his B.A. degree from Northwestern College and his MBA from Drake University. He holds FINRA series 7 and 63 securities licenses.
